THE DECENTRALIZED BASIC EDUCATION (DBE) PROGRAM

The USAID/Indonesia Decentralized Basic Education program is a partnership between the Government of Indonesia and the Government of the United States of America. The program aims to improve the quality of basic education in Indonesia through three integrated components:

• DBE1 - More Effective Decentralized Education Management and Governance Program
• DBE2 - Improve Quality of Teaching and Learning Program
• DBE3 - Increased Relevance of Junior Secondary Education and Non-Formal Education to Life Skills

This newsletter, Inovasi Pendidikan, aims to report on activities and innovations in junior secondary schools, where DBE is working directly to improve the management and governance of schools (through DBE 1) and to improve the quality of teaching and learning (through DBE 3).

We wish to report on all innovations at junior secondary school level which have been developed under the DBE program, whether in the areas of management, governance, teaching and learning or any other areas. We are encouraging our readers to send in stories and articles for publication. Please include photographs with your writing.

The next edition of the newsletter will be published at the end of March 2009. You can send your articles to any of the DBE 3 offices listed below or directly by email to the editor ‘thutabarat@savechildren.org’. Articles may be edited before being included in the newsletter.
