A Series of Training in West Java
MARCH 2009 has been a busy month for DBE3 in West Java. In this month several training sessions took place. including ToT for District Facilitators, dissemination of DBE3 training and teacher training on DBE3 models. These three training events involved 182 participants consisting of teachers, District Facilitators, MoNE and MoRA officials, representatives from universities and LPMP. The details of the events are as follows.

ToT for District Facilitators in Indramayu
Training of Trainers for District Facilitators in West Java-Banten took place between March 24-27, 2009 at Hotel Wiwi Perkasa, Indramayu. This training was attended by total 101 participants.
Facilitated by 11 National Facilitators, this provincial training was for the District Facilitators of five core subjects; Science (IPA), Social Studies (IPS), Mathematics, English and Bahasa Indonesia.
These District Facilitators will be in charge of facilitating the teacher training at district level, covering 5 extension districts (Cilegon, Bogor, Karawang, Indramayu, and Garut) in West Java and Banten.
Participants followed the sessions of this TOT with great enthusiasm. To me, the session on developing high-level questions was especially challenging and interesting, claimed one participant. Another participant was certain that when teachers reach a high teaching capacity, student learning will be of high quality.
Another participant said, I learned many things here. I am quite sure that my students will enjoy learning Mathematics with the new approaches I learned here.

Teacher Training Using DBE3 Modules
The training took place at Yayasan Pendidikan (YAPIN) Kerta Semaya, Indramayu on March 24-25, 2009. Facilitated by two DBE3 District Trainers, the training was attended by 35 teachers of MTs and SMP throughout Indramayu.
The participants come from 7 schools. They were trained on better teaching and learning (module 1). This training was funded by the schools involved using the BOS (school operational funding).

Dissemination on DBE3 Training in West Java
The dissemination of DBE3 training took place between March 20-21, 2009 at SMPN Satu Atap in Losarang, Indramayu. The training was attended by 46 teachers, representing 6 schools in Losarang Subdistrict. The two-day training was the time for teachers of Losarang to learn more about using better strategies in the teaching-learning processes.
Initiated by a DBE3 District Facilitator from Indramayu, who is also a school supervisor, this training was funded by Lthe local Dinas Pendidikan (Education Office) and organized by Losarang sub-district education office.
