Self Development through Team Teaching
ON Monday, September 14, 2009, Ibu Vanda Manurung, S.Pd and Ibu Julita Tobing looked enthusiatic in front of their students. They were simulating how to do an interview. That day they did team teaching and taught students how to interview and to be interviewed.
Ibu Manurung and Ibu Tobing said that they had prepared the teaching material a week earlier. They discussed and decided their roles. Also they had prepared a lesson plan to help them teach the lesson.
According to the principal of SMP Negeri 1 Tarutung, Drs. Dosner Sihotang, team teaching is conducted regularly in his school. At least twice a week, the school does team teaching.
Pak Sihotang said that through team teaching teachers can improve their skills in teaching. ”Team teaching gives opportunities for teachers to learn from their colleagues,” said pak Sihotang. The positive impact of team teaching is not only on the teachers. Tommi Tobing (13) a 9th grader said that he thought team teaching really positive.
The collaboration of Ibu Manurung and Ibu Tobing made learning more interesting and fun. “Now we work in groups. We can share what we know with our friends in our groups. It is better than learning individually,” said Tommi.
