Teachers in Kutai Timur Implement
DBE3 Model of Relevant Learning
FROM October 18-21, 110 teachers from SMP and SMA in district of Kutai Timur, East Kalimantan, participated in a training conducted by Dinas Pendidikan Kabupaten Kutai and the State University of Surabaya (UNESA). The training, which aimed to improve the quality of teachers in Kutai Timur, used DBE3 BTL2 and BTL3 modules as its material.
Facilitated by 12 lecturers of UNESA, participants were trained to develop and implement contextual learning in order to develop students’ life skills. In this training, participants learned how to create tasks which might encourage students to think logically and be able to solve problems.
Participants also learned how to manage their classrooms, identify media for learning, and develop worksheets for students. At the end of the training, participants had the opportunity to do teaching practice in schools in Kutai Timur.

In teaching practice, participants encouraged students to learn actively and use the available learning materials. Participants also gave opportunities for students to present their work and display it on the wall.
